After having some overheating cases, I added cooling to my router. This is the initial testing setup to see if the problem will be solved with that old pc fan. I used so MDF off cuts from my stock to make the fan base and a power supply I had in hand. The problem was indeed solved, but having the fan working all the time was adding noise to our already noisy environment.
Test started on June 24th 2024. Later, in August, I ordered a temperature controller from Temu (too cheap to be true, a pack with two controllers for 2.50 euros each at Aug 5th 2024) and a power supply (eshop.gr for 4.50 euros at Aug 19th 2024) to power the controller and the fan.
I placed the temperature sensor bellow the router.
The controller is set ON at 34, OFF at 32. We can also tell if the weather is hot or not from how often the fan works!
Update Sept 2025. This was the is the second summer with extreme heat and I had no more issues with the router.
